Privacy Policy
Hearthscholar is a homeschool planning service for parents and guardians. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
Who uses Hearthscholar
Accounts are created and managed by adults (18+). Children do not create accounts, do not need email addresses, and do not sign in separately. A parent enters information about each learner.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, password (stored only as a salted hash) and the state you homeschool in.
- Learner details you enter: a first name or nickname, grade and subject levels, interests, learning style and schedule preferences.
- Schoolwork records: lesson plans generated for your family, lessons marked complete, scores and notes you add, and worksheets.
- Billing: handled by Stripe. We receive your subscription status and a customer ID; we never see or store full card numbers.
- Technical data: basic logs (such as IP address and browser type) kept by our host, Cloudflare, for security and reliability.
How we use it
To run the service: generating lesson plans and worksheets, tracking progress and records, processing payments, and supporting you. Lesson-generation requests send the learner's grade, subject level, interests and schedule to our AI provider to write the plan; we do not send your email address or billing details. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use children's information for advertising.
Cookies
We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Your choices
You can edit or delete any learner profile, which deletes that learner's plans and records. You can export records as CSV at any time. To delete your whole account, email hello@hearthscholar.com from your account address and we will delete it within 30 days.
Security and retention
Data is stored with Cloudflare and transmitted over HTTPS. We keep your data while your account is open and delete it within 30 days of an account deletion request, except where we must keep billing records by law.
